Hanging banners, rigid signage and cut vinyl for Taylor and Nike
A mixed graphics package for Taylor and Nike covering hanging banners, rigid signage and vinyl cut wall and floor graphics. Rigid elements were printed direct to substrate; the flexible work ran on Coreflex media. The difficulty in a package like this is holding one colour across materials that behave nothing alike.
What the job demanded
Packages that combine overhead, eye-level and underfoot graphics are really three jobs sharing one palette. A hanging banner is read from below at distance and moves in the air handling, so it needs weight, a straight hang and clean registration if both faces are seen. Rigid signage is read close up under retail lighting, where surface sheen and edge finish are visible. Floor graphics are walked on, which makes slip resistance a safety requirement rather than a preference, and puts a laminate between the eye and the ink. Each substrate carries a different base white and a different surface, so the same file will print three different-looking versions of a brand colour unless the colour is managed per material rather than once for the job.
How it was produced
Rigid elements were printed direct to substrate on a UV-LED flatbed. The sheet is held on a vacuum bed, the carriage passes over it and lays ink straight onto the board, curing it with ultraviolet diodes as it goes, so there is no separate print-and-mount step and no laminating film between the ink and the surface. Flexible work ran on Coreflex media, covering both the hanging banner stock and the pressure-sensitive vinyl. Cut vinyl elements were plotted, weeded and lifted onto application tape so shapes transfer to the wall in correct relative position rather than being placed piece by piece. Floor sections were over-laminated with a textured anti-slip film. Colour was profiled separately for each substrate so that board, banner and vinyl land on the same brand colour once installed.
