A table top booth and a crated framing system for 3G Lighting

What the job demanded

A table top booth is defined by what one person can carry and set up alone. It has to fit a case that travels as freight or luggage, come out of that case in a fixed number of moves, and go up on a supplied table without tools, a crew or a rigging call. Every component that could be lost between shows is a liability. A crated framing system is the opposite problem: it is large enough to need a build crew and a freight lane, so the real constraints are surviving forklifts and repeated handling, fitting a crate efficiently enough that freight cost stays sensible, and going back together correctly by people who did not build it the first time.

How it was produced

Both builds use Procura aluminium extrusion with silicone edge graphics. A silicone bead sewn to the perimeter of each printed skin presses into a groove in the profile, tensioning the fabric flat and taking the image to the frame edge, and it seats and releases by hand. The graphics were dye sublimated onto polyester: disperse dye is driven into the fibre under heat and pressure, so the colour lives in the yarn and the skin can be folded into a case repeatedly without the image cracking or wearing along the folds. For the table top unit, the parts count was kept low and the assembly order made self-evident. For the crated system, components were numbered against a parts list, test-assembled before shipping and foam-located in the crate so each piece has one place it belongs.
