A hanging halo and rigid signage built around one brand colour

A hanging halo with stretch fabric and rigid signage for Taylor and Coca Cola, dye sublimated on Procura hardware. When a brand is carried by a single, universally recognised colour, the whole job becomes an exercise in making that colour survive two very different materials.

What the job demanded

Some brand colours are recognised well enough that people notice when they are wrong without being able to say why. That makes matching the hard problem here, and a halo package makes it harder by putting the colour on two materials at once. A tensioned fabric band and a printed rigid panel have different base whites, different surface textures and completely different reflectance, so the same file printed to both will land on two visibly different reds. The band is also curved and suspended, which means it is lit from a different angle than the flat signage below and seen against a ceiling rather than a wall. Add the geometry of a ring, where any flat spot in the curve or any slack in the fabric is picked up immediately, and there is very little margin.

How it was produced

Colour was managed per material rather than once for the job, with the fabric and the rigid substrate profiled separately and both brought to the same target so they agree in the space rather than agreeing on paper. The band was dye sublimated onto stretch polyester, where disperse dye bonds inside the fibre under heat and pressure; because the colour is in the yarn, saturation holds when the fabric is stretched around the ring instead of thinning at the points of greatest tension. The halo itself is curved aluminium extrusion assembled into a continuous ring, with a silicone bead sewn to the perimeter of the skin seating into the Procura channel to tension it flat and conceal the frame. The rigid signage was printed and cut flat, then checked against the fabric under the same lighting before sign-off.
